Purpose

The consultation program aims to ensure that all parties in the business are actively involved in achieving occupational health and safety goals. By promoting open communication we will ensure that everyone is aware of their responsibilities and has the chance to participate in developing and implementing the business safety management strategy.

Scope

Employees and contractors at all operational sites.

Goals

The Consultation Program aims to:

  1. Establish a two-way communication pathway throughout the business
  2. Raise awareness of WHSE issues
  3. Provide a mechanism for actioning WHSE issues raised by any person in the business
  4. Ensure compliance with Legislative and regulatory requirements
  5. Facilitate discussion of WHSE issues between managers, employees and contractors
  6. Review controls for hazard identification
  7. Share the experience and knowledge held within the business for the purpose of learning and developing better practices
  8. Inform employees of business related matters

Method

The goals of the consultation policy will be achieved through the use of:

  • Toolbox Talks

  • Safety Meetings

  • Inductions

  • JSEA reviews

  • Annual awareness training

Measures

  • Staff engagement

  • Compliance with toolbox talk deliveries

  • Audit outcomes

Roles and Responsibilities

Position Role
Executive To ensure the consultation process is working effectively across the business group and supporting the HSEC Strategy
Managers To implement the consultation process and ensure procedures are followed
To respond to issues/actions raised through the consultation process
WHS Coordinator To support managers and team leaders to execute the consultation process
To provide information and advice to support consultation process
To maintain the safety alert and TTT register
To audit compliance with consultation process
Team Leaders / Supervisors To ensure compliance and implement the procedures of the consultation process
To engage persons on site to participate in consultation process
Workers To actively participate in the consultation process
